Willoughby Sharp (b. 1936, d. 2008) was active internationally for over 50 years as an art historian, art writer, filmmaker, independent curator, lecturer, independent publisher, videoperformance artist, cable TV Host, self-described telecom activist, gallerist, and art world impresario. He curated KINETIC ENVIRONMENTS I and II (1967); KINETICISM: SYSTEMS SCULPTURE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SITUATIONS (Mexico City, 1968); AIR ART (1968), EARTH ART (1969), and PIER 18 (1971). He was the Director of Kineticism Press (1966-1973); co-founder and Publisher of Avalanche magazine (1970-1976), Videoperformance artist; founding member of the Live Injection Point at the Franklin Street Arts Center (1975-1978); Host of the Willoughby Sharp Show (1985-86); and Director of The Willoughby Sharp Gallery (1989-2000).

Pamela Seymour Smith Sharp, Director of the Estate of Willoughby Sharp, is an oral historian and archivist. In 2006, under the auspices of the DAAD, she conducted a video oral history with Willoughby Sharp titled The VideoBook: Willoughby Sharp's Oral Art History that includes 24 one-hour videotapes. She co-curated a retrospective of Sharp's work at Colgate University in 2007, and collaborated with Sharp on exhibitions and presentations about his work in the US and Europe from 2005 to 2008.
