Requirements include:

1. B.A., MA, and/or Ph.D. all can be appropriate, depending on the duties (degrees in Arts Administration also useful)
2. Foreign languages may be necessary
3. Some to a great deal of research, depending on the position
4. Some involvement with people
5. Good communication and writing skills; political abilities
