Solveig Nelson

Solveig Nelson specializes in new media and contemporary art. Her teaching and research interests include histories of television and video art, queer aesthetics, the legacies of direct action politics in art history, the transmission of photographs through print media such as magazines, and curatorial practice and art criticism. Her current book project, The Whole World is (Still) Watching considers early video art in the United States as an art movement that was deeply engaged with civil rights and LGBT liberation movements. She is also working on exhibition-related projects on artists Gretchen Bender, Gregg Bordowitz, and Thing magazine.
